Zombie Wildfires

Wildfires in this era of heat are hard to put out and then they can be everywhere at once. Now there is another category of wildfires, those that will not die. See What exactly are 'zombie' fires, and how are they affecting wildfires this spring?  Typically, wildfires deep in the woods and high in the mountains that are unreachable by ground wildfire fighting will be left to either burn themselves out, or be put out by fall rains and winter snow. Yet, they can evidently smolder along underground and then come back to life as the temperatures warm and the grasses and other vegetation dries out. These types of conditions are typical for what you can find in Canadian boreal forests

We are well past spring and into the summer months. Once again, we have a new situation where climate change is impacting a hazard and how we need to take everything into account because of changing climate conditions.
