This is likely getting to people a bit late, since the date to reply to reduction offers is April 14th. I would expect that all employees got the memo already, but it is good for the rest of us following developments to stay abreast of the actions and news. Less capacity and less capability are how I translate these impacts going forward. In an era of expanding disaster impacts it doesn’t compute with my thinking—but, who am I!

Earlier today I was thinking about federal government personnel morale and productivity. It is clear that many people making the big decisions don’t care about either of these two elements that are certainly ensnaring our federal workforce partners. To any of those who are in that mix, just know that we appreciate all that you have done and are doing to support emergency managers all levels of government, the private and nonprofit sectors. Best wishes going forward, not matter what decision you individually make about the buyout.
