We have not seen it happen yet—that I know of. That being the “non-battlefield” use of drones as an attack mechanism. This could be for terrorism purposes, assassinations, etc.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is working with technology companies to explore ways to counter drones. See S&T Continues Counter-Unmanned Aerial System Technologies Testing

I’m a big advocate and fan for the use of drones by our broader emergency management and first responder community. Unfortunately, like with every new positive use, the same technology can be put to more nefarious uses.

The day will come when drones are in the news for doing something very bad!
