Fasten Your Seatbelts

Normally I talk about disaster preparedness as the same as “fastening your seatbelts” by becoming prepared for an emergency or disaster, since like a car accident, you can’t predict when a disaster will happen.

For this blog post, I’m really talking about, “Fasten Your Seatbelts” and keep them fastened when flying. Recently there have been two significant incidents occur when clear air turbulence hit commercial aircraft flying at cruising altitude. Both caused significant injuries to passengers and one death.

Since we are continuing to set records for the number of passengers flying—it is in everyone’s best interest to use the disaster mitigation tool provided to every passenger on a plane—that being the seatbelt. While we work to prepare our communities and organizations for disasters, let’s set a good example for ourselves, our families and our fellow passengers. Fasten your seatbelts and keep them fastened, it could be a very bumpy ride!
