2025 Predictions
In a single word my predictions for 2025 can be summed up in one word—“Unpredictable.” In December I wrote this blog post, An Interesting Time in History
There is just so many things in flux right now, it is as hazy a picture of the future that one can think of. One example came from Syria where “one person in authority” said they want to take a new approach in working with Israel. Really? The political world across the globe is in turmoil with the electorate in many countries opting to go with political parties that have not been in power and not supporting those parties that provided stability for many years. The winds of change are blowing everywhere!
It was only two years ago that ChatGPT burst on the scene and now Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be everywhere. More technological evolution should be expected in that direction. I see AI being about where the Internet was in 1998. Lots more to come.
On the disaster scene we won’t see climate change make a radical “one year” evolution to catastrophe, but we can expect a never-ending series of disasters that are weather related. More stories on property insurance becoming unaffordable or unavailable should be expected.
A new FEMA Administrator with X priorities
Pre-disaster funding could –go down (if budget hawks are scraping the barrel for federal govt. savings) Mitigation can be deferred!
Potential involvement in mass deportations of illegal immigrants???
Disinformation becomes even more rampant, before-during-and, after disasters
A return to some form of “civil defense” that has a more prominent role
I actually don’t see much upside to 2025. Fasten your seatbelts, it could be a bumpy ride.
