Secret Service Communications Failures

It is to be expected that with every event, be it real or an exercise, communications between the players seems to always be the issue. It was no different the day there was an attempted assassination on former President Trump

You can read the testimony of the Acting Secret Service Director at the link above. In the dialog between the legislators and the Acting Director the poor planning for communications came out, both for cellular and radio. For an event like this, cellular is a back-up and not a primary source of communications. They had problems with both.

The goal is for them to figure out went wrong and correct it for future events. Sometimes a blackeye is the best way to learn. Hopefully, they will not ignore the lessons of that day.
