FMAG Granted for CA Fires
There are three major types of Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) disaster forms of financial assistance. The most common one is a Presidential Disaster Declaration that starts with a request being sent by the state to their FEMA Regional Office and then forwarded to FEMA National where it is processed and sent to the White House with a recommendation to approve or disapprove. Then there can be a FEMA Emergency Declaration, for things that might not be related physical damages.
The last category of assistance is a Fire Management Assistance Grant ( FMAG) usually for wildland fires, but in the case of the ongoing California fires, more of an urban conflagration. See this for the most recent actions by FEMA, FEMA Fire Management Assistance Granted for the Hurst Fire
Given the extent of the damages to personal property there will certainly be a Presidential Disaster Declaration for individual assistance to follow and likely public assistance for damages to the public infrastructure.
