what will happen with the national flood insurance program?

The election is over! The future starts very soon—January 2025.

You may recall Project 2025 being mentioned in all the brouhaha of the political campaign. Now reality is setting in concerning what will be the big changes that the Trump Administration will make. While Project 2025 was disavowed by President Elect Trump, many who served in his past administration participated in formulating recommendations for his new administration—if he won.

With “the win” behind him, there is this news item from earlier this summer, Heritage Foundation Project 2025 calls for eliminating federal flood insurance; Expert predicts it could be Florida's next major crisis

Every recommendation in Project 2025 will not be implemented, but there is a thread of privatization that runs through the document. There are already cost pressures on property insurance across the nation, not just in Florida. I would expect that there will be a huge uproar if there is a measure to eliminate a “government subsidized” flood insurance program.

However, never underestimate the ability of purists to try and “burn the house down” to stay with a political agenda. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything comes of the above.
