Portable Vehicle Barrier

We have seen many different types of violent attacks during parades, concerts and festivals. It is not beyond the imagination that someone who can’t buy a gun, can purchase a car, and use it as a deadly weapon to mow down people in its path. This has happened time and again with deadly consequences.

Very recently I was at a small town weekend festival and observed they had placed a series of barriers on a major approach coming into a street with various vendor booths offering food and merchandise. I don’t claim to be a security expert, but I was the Director of Security at the Port of Tacoma for four years and we investigated and installed various types of vehicle security barriers. I thought this one has some positives to it because of its mobility and your ability to place a series of them where you deem necessary.

The one pictured is this:

Archer 1200 Mobile Barrier

The Archer 1200 Barrier is unanchored and "Drop and Stop". Made of 100% American steel and is the strongest mobile steel barrier in the world. The Archer 1200 Barrier is the barrier of choice for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM). The Archer 1200 Barrier is rapidly deployable in sets of 8 in under 10 minutes. The 1200 Archer Barrier solution allows for pedestrian access and emergency vehicle access for every deployment option. The Archer 1200 Barrier is not a bollard which is permanently fixed. Its mobility makes it a primary security safety system for entry points, roadways and perimeters.

This is not an endorsement, but it does look like an option where none exists today.
