Landslide Study Funding

As emergency managers we all know that flooding is the most common hazard that we have in our communities. There are even floods in deserts! However, I’ve read that landslides are also widespread.

How does emergency management get funding? Well, first you usually need a really big disaster. In landslide terms that was the Oso Landslide that happened back in 2014.

It is not that much money, but Washington State, really the USGS, will be getting $300K to study the risks in Clark County Washington. Clark County borders the Columbia River and the State of Oregon.

From a national perspective, it is not much money, but it will help one county.
