Certainly snow fall has decreased in my lifetime for where I lived growing up in Freeport, Illinois. The severe cold is also not what it once was. In the past you could easily predict it would be below zero on New Years Day.

For the linked article, what is interesting is that you can plug in your county to see what your snow forecast looks like for where you live. I did so, and we are supposed to “buck the trend” and get more snow
